Iron & Figs Books

About Iron & Figs Books

Sharpening faith. Bearing fruit.

A curated Christian publishing imprint for discipleship resources for churches, teachers, and students of Scripture.

Mission

Iron & Figs Books publishes biblically faithful works that strengthen the saints, cultivate spiritual fruitfulness, and serve the church for the glory of Christ.

Many pastors, teachers, and ministry leaders labor faithfully to create strong materials for teaching, discipleship, small groups, Bible studies, homeschooling, and congregational life — yet those resources often serve one local body well and never reach the wider church. Iron & Figs Books helps bring those church-tested efforts into publishable form so they can strengthen believers, families, and churches far beyond their original setting.

Our goal is not to create a platform for would-be authors, but to steward faithful teaching for the continued strengthening of believers, families, groups, and churches.

Why “Iron & Figs”?

The Meaning of Our Name

Our name holds together two biblical images: strength and fruitfulness, kept together.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

— Proverbs 27:17

“Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit.”

— Proverbs 27:18

Iron speaks of sharpening, strength, and formation. Figs speak of fruitfulness, patience, and harvest. Together they name what we pray our books will do: form faithfulness and bear fruit — strength with warmth, conviction with patience, sharpening with care.

Theological Vision

Fidelity to Scripture. Reverence for Christ. Service to his church.

Iron & Figs Books is governed by Scripture, not merely religiously themed. Every resource we publish is meant to serve the church’s ordinary work of discipleship — helping believers think clearly, endure faithfully, live fruitfully, and serve wisely.

Our posture is:

  • Biblically governed — Scripture is our authority and our aim.
  • Doctrinally serious — responsible and careful with difficult truths.
  • Discipleship focused — written to shepherd, teach, and disciple, not to win arguments.
  • Formative — intended to shape life, not merely convey information.
  • Clear over novel — committed to clarity and usefulness rather than cleverness or trend.

Theological and Publishing Commitments

Iron & Figs Books publishes biblically faithful works that strengthen the saints, cultivate spiritual fruitfulness, and serve the church for the glory of Christ. These theological and publishing commitments describe the convictions that guide our work, shape our editorial judgment, and help authors discern whether a manuscript may be a good fit for publication under the Iron & Figs Books imprint.

Printing with Stewardship in Mind

Iron & Figs Books uses print-on-demand for many of our books. Rather than printing a large quantity in anticipation of future sales, print-on-demand allows a copy to be produced when a reader orders it.

For a small publisher, we believe this can be a wise use of the resources entrusted to us. It reduces the risk of producing books that may never be needed, along with the paper, energy, storage, transportation, and expense associated with excess inventory. It also allows us to keep worthwhile books available even when they sell in small quantities over many years.

Print-on-demand does involve trade-offs. Because your book is produced after you order it, delivery may take a little longer, and the cost of producing each copy is generally higher than in a large commercial print run. Iron & Figs Books absorbs some of that difference by keeping our margins modest. We strive to price our books so that they remain affordable to readers while still covering the costs necessary to publish responsibly and sustain our work.

We do not regard one printing method as best in every circumstance. When demand justifies a larger print run, commercial printing may be the better steward of both resources and cost. Our aim is to make sound use of what has been entrusted to us: producing what is needed, avoiding unnecessary waste, keeping useful books available, and offering them at prices that are fair to our readers.

An invitation

Many faithful resources serve a local congregation well but remain unavailable beyond that setting. Churches, pastors, teachers, and ministry leaders who have developed biblically faithful resources for Christian living and church life are warmly invited to begin a conversation with us.
